Osborne Cox (Malkovich) would rather quit his job with the CIA than be demoted. His wife, Katie (Swinton), thinks this is a mistake and is irritated with his decision. Her lover, Harry Pfarrer (Clooney, an ex-secret service agent, is trying to decide weather to divorce his wife to be with Katie. Harry is a bit of a player though, and has been known to search the internet for dates. On the internet, he meets Linda (McDormand), a gym worker who is desperate to get some money to have cosmetic surgery done. Linda and her co-worker Chad (Pitt) find a way to get that money: sell CIA secrets from some unpublished memoirs found at the gym and belonging to Osborne Cox to the Russians.

This is the type of movie that the Coen brothers do best: idiots with a plan that goes horribly wrong. “Burn After Reading” delivers the goods with solid performances all around. Brad Pitt is probably the stand out, but Malkovich also gives a strong performance. The stories are interwoven effectively so the pieces come together at the right time for maximum drama and humor. This is no “No Country For Old Men”, but it many ways it will appeal to a wider audience, if only for the star power. “Burn After Reading” is another solid effort from the Coen brothers.

400 years from now, 99% of the world's population has been wiped out by a virus. Those remaining are living in a walled city and led by the Goodchild regime. Five million people survived the plague in 2001, and five million still live in 2415. The Goodchild regime is a totalitarian government, and the Monicans are focused on removing him from power by any means necessary. The most dangerous Monican, Aeon Flux (Theron) accepts a specific mission from the Handler (McDormand) to kill Trevor Goodchild (Csokas). With the help of her sidekick, Sithandra (Okonedo), she ventures into his fortress. When the time comes to pull the trigger, something happens that will change their world forever.

"Aeon Flux" is the film version of some short cartoons aired on MTV in the 1990's, and is a mixed bag, sometimes working and sometimes not -- mostly not. There are a lot of nods to the cartoon, and they seem kind of silly when not in cartoon form. Theron is wrong for the role, and never really feels right to this fan of the cartoon. The story is moderately interesting, but poorly executed for the most part. "Aeon Flux" was a disappointment for me, and I can't help but think that with a different cast and crew, a better job could have been done.

Harry, an older gentleman with a tendency toward the younger woman, is dating much younger Marin. Their getaway at a vacation home is interrupted by Marin's mom Erica and aunt Zoe. When Harry suffers a minor heart attack, he is left in Erica's care while the others return to their normal lives. And so it happens that Harry and Erica begin a relationship despite each of their intentions. This is a love story for the older generation, and that is part of the reason that I really did not connect with it. Nichlson and Keaton give solid performances as two people finding love in a place that they never looked before.
